The next generation of Sony's PSP portable gaming console, the Sony PlayStation Vita will launch in the United States on February 22, 2012. The PlayStation boss Jack Tretton made this public at the Web 2.0 summit. He also confirmed that Sony PlayStation Vita will be available in Japan in December, 2011. The new Sony PlayStation Vita offers lots of great features like more support for augmented reality (AR), social media integration, multi-player online gaming, a larger and more brilliant display. With the launch of the Kindle Fire at a price of $199, the traditional Kindle e-reader, got a price cut. It now selling for $139 ($99 for Kindle with Ads). It has also gotten a name change. Amazon now calls its traditional Kindle readers, the Kindle Keyboard, to differentiate it from the new Kindle with touchscreen, called the Kindle Touch and the basic Kindle with neither, keyboard or touchscreen, called just Kindle.

The long awaited Android based tablet from Amazon was unveiled on September 28, 2011 in New York. The new tablet called the Kindle Fire, will run Amazon's flavor of the Android OS. The Amazon Kindle Fire tablet features a 7-inch touchscreen similar to the Blackberry Playbook and goes for $199. It is currently available at Amazon and starts shipping from November 15, 2011.

Google has launched Google Wallet, its mobile app that aims to turn our phones into our wallet. For now only one phone, Google Nexus S 4G, built by Samsung and available only on the Sprint network in the United States can support Google Wallet. Owners of the Google Nexus S 4G will be getting Google Wallet through an over-the-air update on the Sprint network.
